現代仏教美術を牽引する仏師、禅僧。10代の頃よりアフガニスタン、ヨーロッパ、アフリカ、南米、アジアを巡る8年に及ぶ旅を重ね、その中で「ZEN」 に出会い、仏門を叩く。彼は、木や土を使って「仏像を作る」のではなく、木、土、火、水そしてヒトそのものがホトケの姿と見る。木一本一本が持つ色や形、ねじれや歪みや傷の美しさを引き出し、作品を通して世界の無常の美しさを表現している。

Takuo Hasegawa – Buddha Statue Sculptor

He is a Buddha statue sculptor and Zen monk. His all artwork is expressed through zen practice. He was born to a carpenter’s family and met Zen Buddhism during his solitary journey extensively around Europe, Middle East, Africa, South America, Asia as well as his home country Japan. He continues to travel to this day, drawing inspiration from various cultures, ideas and all living things, which are borne out of specific climates that are unique to each locality. Through his artwork, he endeavors to realize and express true diversity, harmony and the limitlessness of the world in which we live.
